Seabold Tosses Gem, but Titans Fall on Friday

FULLERTON, Calif. --- Connor Seabold went the distance, tossing his first complete game, while allowing just one earned run, but the Titan bats just couldn't get anything going, as Fullerton fell 1-0 to Gonzaga in Friday night's series opener at Goodwin Field.

Seabold (1-3) was magnificent on the mound, going the complete 9.0 innings, allowing just one earned run, walking two, and fanning 11. However, on the other end it was Gonzaga's Eli Morgan (2-1) who stole the show, as he also went 9.0 innings, while surrendering just two hits, a walk and striking out 15 Titans.

For Fullerton (7-5), the loss snaps what was a three-game win streak, while it also marks the first time the Titans have been shutout since April of last year. Fullerton has now lost three consecutive series openers, but in each of the previous two instances have rallied to win on Saturday.

Friday marked a true pitcher's duel, as no hitter on either side managed to record more than one base hit. For the Titans, it was Chris Prescott and Chris Hudgins each collecting singles to represent the offense.

Gonzaga (6-6) generated the lone run in the ballgame in the fourth inning, as Daniel Fredrickson doubled in Tyler Frost, who led the frame off with a single to right field.

The Titans will try and regain the offensive power they showed during their last season at Arizona State, as they'll look to even the series tomorrow at 6 pm PT.
