Big West Conference Player of the Week Release

IRVINE, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton right-hander Colton Eastman earned his second Big West Conference Pitcher of the Week Award, it was announced Monday.

The freshman had the longest outing of his career, flirting with a complete game as he pitched into the ninth inning in Saturday's 2-1 victory over Long Beach State. Eastman tossed eight and 1/3 innings and  allowed one run to defeat the Dirtbags and help Fullerton claim the outright conference title.

He did not walk a batter and struck out nine Dirtbags in the win.  The Titans owned a one-game lead on the Dirtbags coming into the contest, and the win not only wrapped up the program's second straight championship, but clinched the Big West automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

Eastman kept Long Beach State off balance throughout, as he allowed just one base runner through the first six innings and faced just one over the minimum during that stretch.  He retired nine straight batters at one point.

Eastman won his first conference pitcher of the week award back on Feb. 22 after his first career start. He retired the first 16 batters he faced against Stanford in his first career start as he allowed two earned runs on three hits in five and 1/3 innings of work. He struck out five without issuing a walk.
