Eastman Named Big West Conference Pitcher of the Week

Big West Conference Players of the Week

IRVINE, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton freshman Colton Eastman was named the Big West Conference Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Eastman was superb in his Titans debut on Sunday as the 6-foot-3 right-hander flirted with a perfect game, retiring the first 16 batters he faced in the Titans 4-3 victory over Stanford on Sunday.

Eastman did not allow a hit until surrendering an infield hit in the sixth inning after an 11-pitch battle with Cardinal outfielder Jonny Locher.

The Fresno, Calif. native went on to earn his first career win after going five and 1/3 innings and allowing three runs, two earned, on three hits. He struck out five.

Eastman's performance helped the Titans grab their first win at Sunken Diamond since 2002, snapping a 12-game losing streak in Palo Alto.

Others nominated: Kyle Smith (Cal Poly); Kenny Rosenberg (CSUN); Darren McCaughan (Long Beach State); Shaun Vetrovec (UC Irvine); Angel Landazuri (UC Riverside); Joe Record (UC Santa Barbara)
