Titans in the Postseason: Pestano Named to Angels Division Series Roster

FULLERTON, Calif. – Former Cal State Fullerton pitcher Vinnie Pestano was named to the Los Angeles Angels playoff roster, it was announced Thursday.

Pestano is one of 12 pitchers on the team's roster for its American League Division Series matchup against the Kansas City Royals, which begins Thursday night at 6 p.m. in Anaheim. The game can be seen on TBS, check your local listings.

Pestano made 13 appearances with the Cleveland Indians before being traded to the Angels on Aug. 7. Pestano shined out of the bullpen for the Angels, making 12 appearances and posting a miniscule 0.93 ERA in 9.2 innings pitched. He allowed five hits, one run on a solo home run and struck out 13 batters.

In his three seasons at Fullerton, Pestano posted an 8-8 record with a 2.93 career ERA. He tallied 129 strikeouts in 135.1 innings pitched and recorded 27 saves. He made 30 appearances during the Titans 2004 national championship season and had 37 strikeouts.

Pestano making the roster sets the stage for a possible "Titan vs. Titan" matchup during the ALDS as Christian Colon was kept on the Royals playoff roster for the series against the Angels.

Colon made his postseason debut in the Royals' 8-7 12-inning victory over the Oakland Athletics in Tuesday A.L. Wild Card playoff game. Colon made his mark in the 12th inning, driving in the game-tying run and then, after stealing second, scored the game-winning run on a two-out single by catcher Salvador Perez.

In his three seasons with the Titans, Colon posted a career .349 batting average with 267 hits, 214 runs scored, 46 doubles, 6 triples, 29 home runs and 147 RBI. Colon ranks fourth in runs on the Titans all-time career record book. He also ranks sixth in hits, hit-by-pitches (44) and eighth in total bases (412).
