APU Runners Win Both

Fullerton, Calif. - Azusa Pacific runners won both races Friday evening as Abednego Magut led the men and Poppy Lawman paced the women at the 2010 Cal State Fullerton Invitational Cross Country Meet on campus. APU won the women's team title but was second to the UCLA men.

Magut's time for the 8K course was 23:48.7, which put him more than 30 seconds ahead of teammate and runnerup Wade Meddles.

Lawman's margin was smaller, running the 5K course in 16:57.8 to best unattached Ariel Wright in 17:03.2.

Loyola Marymount ran second to APU in the women's race paced by Jessica Mumaugh in seventh at 18:06.7. UCLA's men were led by collegiate third-place finisher Joel Ambo in 24:43.6.

Host Cal State Fullerton entered only three individuals. Taylor Reyes finished 64th among the women in 19:51.5. Kyle Lintz was 79th (27:47.2) and Jason Haase was 90th (28:59.8) for the men.

Fullerton was resting its regulars for the Big West Conference Championships Oct. 30 at UC Riverside.
