IRVINE, Calif. — Jicel Fernandez Ramirez and Justin Singer have been named The Big West Cross Country Athletes of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Ramirez ran a personal-best 18:00.9 in the women's 5K race at the John Elders Titan Invite Friday, finishing in 11th place overall. Ramirez's result led the Titans' women's cross country squad to a fourth-place finish at the event. She bested her previous 5K personal-record of 19:16.5 set earlier this season at the Mark Covert Classic on September 3rd.
Justin Singer led the way for the Titans in the men's 8K race Friday with a personal-best time of 25:03.9, finishing in 18th place. He bested his previous personal-record of 25:23.1 set at the Highlander Invitational on October 15th.
The Titans compete next at the Big West Championships this Saturday, October 29th, at the UC Riverside Agricultural Operations Course. The meet is scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m. PT.
