Santa Clarita, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton men's and women's cross country competed at the Mustang Challenge at Central Park in Santa Clarita on Saturday morning. The men's team was led by Eduardo Guapilla to a 10th-place finish while the women only had four runners finish the race and therefore did not score as a team.

For the men, they tallied 295 points in 10th place. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps won with 46 points. The Titans did not run their top competitors this morning but it was a great chance for these six men and four women to get a race in.

Guapilla clocked an 8K time of 25:55.1 in 29th place, John Welch was 59th (26:38.0), Erick Juarez took 71st (26:51.2), Dominic Gonzalez finished in 90th (27:08.8) and Aaron Lieberman was 91st (27:09.5) as the final scorer. Jorge Diaz clocked a time of 27:23.3 as well.

On the women's side, Stephanie Cortez was the first Titan to cross the finish line with a 5K time of 19:12.3 that was good for 66th place. Laura Velasco clocked a time of 19:27.0 (78th), Sarah Jamil came in at 19:34.6 (92nd) and Skylar Sorenson finished in 19:39.1 (100th).

Next up for the Titans is the Joe Piane Invitational on Oct. 4 at Notre Dame. That will be one of the premier meets of the 2019 cross country season as the field will be loaded.
