UCLA, LMU Win Invitational; Titans Prep for Championship

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton hosted the Titan Invitational on Friday at the Titan Track Complex, but only a handful of CSF runners competed as the team finishes its final preparation for the Big West Championship next week.

On the men's side, Cal State Fullerton did not have any participants as UCLA won the men's team title with 23 points followed by Loyola Marymount (66), Orange Coast College (89), Cal Baptist (100), Santa Ana (106) and Vanguard (116).

Bruin freshman Jackson Marshall was the first collegiate competitor to cross the finish line on the 8k course in a time of 24:14.21. UCLA had three runners finish in the top 10.

On the women's side, freshman Kevelin Huerta finished the 5k course in a time of 19:24.64, good for 30th. Abby Buckhoff crossed the finish line in 34th place with a time of 19:30.88, and Ruby Rodriguez finished 37th with a time of 19:45.95. The final Titan across the finish line was Marissa Pluma as the freshman completed the course in a time of 20:53.88.

The Titans did not have enough student-athletes competing to score as Loyola Marymount finished first on the women's side with 40 points. The Lions were followed by Biola (43), Orange Coast College (90), Long Beach State (92), Cal Baptist (110), Hope International (125) and UC Santa Barbara (177).

Freshman Ann Kelly of LMU was the first collegiate runner to finish the course in a time of 18:13.50.

On Saturday, Oct. 31, the Titans will compete at the Big West Conference Championship held at the UC Riverside Ag/Ops Course. The women's 6k will begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by the men's 8k at 9:15 a.m. Tickets are $5 per person and children ages 3 and under receive free admission.
