SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Cal State Fullerton freshman Emily Taylor finished 15th overall to help the women's team to a seventh-place finish while the Titans' men's squad ended up 18th to close out the 2012 Santa Clara Bronco Invitational on Saturday morning in Northern California.

Taylor was the 10th collegian across the line, completing the 5K course in a season-best time of 17:33.6. She has been the first Titan finisher in all four meets for Fullerton this season. Sophomore Katie Bathgate also posted a personal-best time of 17:49.3 to finish 29th overall (21 points).

"The women's performance was, by far, our strongest of the year," Head Coach John Elders said. "Almost across the board we had our best individual performances of the season."

Junior Lauren McIntyre (18:14.1) and Lexie Bravo (18:15.6) were bunched closely in 62nd and 65th, respectively, while senior Casey Candelaria finished 86th in a time of 18:27.7. Other Titan finishers included freshman Natalie Hassna, who was 104th with a personal-best time of 18:47.7, and sophomore Tijerra Lynch in 121st with a time of 19:06.0.

In the women's open competition, sophomore Ladan Amiri placed 32nd with a personal best time of 18:57.7 while sophomore Celinda Manzo was 82nd with a time of 19:45.3. Freshman Tristanie Bjazevich was 152nd with a time of 21:48.8.

On the men's side, sophomores Jayson Perez in 59th and Marco Zaragoza in 65th paced the Titans as the only two runners in the top 100.

Perez finished the 8K course in a season-best 25:02 while Zaragoza's time of 25:07.1 was also his fastest in 2012.

"I'm still hopeful that the men's team can put it all together in time for the Big West Conference meet," Elders said. "I feel like practices have gone well and their fitness has gotten better, we just didn't get to enjoy the fruits of that labor today."

Freshman Jeff Little (117th, 25:29.9), freshman Donald Bernard (120th, 25:42.2), junior Brandon Cook (131st, 26:00.6), freshman Tim Reed (132nd, 26:00.8), and junior Anthony Castellon (142nd, 26:39.9) finished up for a young Titan lineup.

In the men's open run, sophomore Daniel Ramos finished 52nd with a time of 26:41.8 and was joined in the top 100 by teammates Brandon Perry in 64th (26:51.7) and freshman Christian Aviles in 91st (27:29.2).
