Fullerton, Calif. - Fourth-year assistant Brandit Copper has been promoted to associate head coach for the Cal State Fullerton men's and women's track and field programs.

"I am pleased that Brandit has been named associate head coach," said Head Coach John Elders, who is in his 23rd year. "She has been an integral part of the success of our program in recent years, and I'm looking forward to continuing working with her to take Titan Track to new heights."

The former Alabama hurdler came to Fullerton in October, 2007, from an assistant's role at the U.S. Military Academy. She also coached on a volunteer basis at Florida. She graduated from Alabama in 2000 and in February received a masters degree from Concordia University in Irvine.

Copper works with the male and female sprinters, jumpers, hurdlers and relay teams. Her tenure at Fullerton has coincided with the tremendous successes of Ciara Short and Lauren Williams, who have combined for 12 school records. Short was a two-time Big West Conference Female Track Athlete of the Year and two-time champion in the 200 and 400 meters. She earned All-American honors in the 400 both indoors and outdoors in 2011. Williams became only the second Big West athlete to win the same event four times when she completed a sweep of the 100 meter hurdles this season.
