Fullerton, Calif. - Three former Cal State Fullerton track and field stars have qualified for the U.S. Olympic trials in the marathon.
Heather Killeen-Frisone finished ninth among females in the Rock and Roll Marathon in San Diego on Sunday to qualify for the women's trials, which will be run Apr. 20, 2008, in Boston. It will occur the day before the 112th Boston Marathon and will run a similar course in the historic district of Boston and use the same start/finish lines.
Her time Sunday in San Diego was 2:42.45, beating the minimum standard of 2:50. In October, she will be among the second class of inductees into the Titan Athletics Hall of Fame.
Her husband, Steve Frisone, and Nick Arciniaga will run in the men's trials in New York City on Nov. 3, 2007. That event will occur the same weekend as the New York Marathon. Both of these former Titans met qualifying times in earlier races.
