Short Doubles at Fresno

Clovis, Calif. - Ciara Short doubled in the 200 and 400 meters and Javon May won the men's 400 meter hurdles to highlight a strong day for Cal State Fullerton track and field at the Bulldog Invitational Saturday hosted by Fresno State at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis.

Short's time of 23.28 with an allowable wind of 1.7 mph in the 200 breaks her own school record of 23.61. She won the 400 in 53.14.

May won his event in a personal best of 52.74. The Titans narrowly missed two more winners, which were determined by number of misses, in Bonnie Sorensen, third in the women's high jump at 5-feet, 5 inches and a fraction and Danny Savoie, second at 6-8 3/4 in the men's high jump.

Other highlights came in the distances where Tyler Reed had a two-second PR in the 1500 meters at 3:54.14 for fourth place and Gail Munoz had a season and almost personal best in the 2000 meters at 4:41.45. Ashley Sims had personal bests in the 100 and 200 and Danielle Morton p.r.'d in the javelin at 133-5, just two feet shy of the school record. Jayson Perez ran his first collegiate 800 meters and p.r.'d by about 4 seconds in 1:55.47.
