Short Breaks Two More School Records

Walnut, Calif. - Ciara Short broke two more school records on two different tracks to highlight this weekend's efforts by the Cal State Fullerton track and field squads.

The Titans' sophomore from San Diego was clocked at 23.68 to win the 200 meters Friday at the Mt. Sac Relays and break her mark of 23.99 set in late March at UCLA. Amber Purvis of Oregon was second in the race at 23.69. On Saturday at the Beach Invitational at Long Beach State, Short placed second in the 100 meters in 11.65, to break Antonia Vega's school record of 11.88 set in 2007. Christine Ohuruoga of Great Britain won the race in 11.37.

Other Fullerton place winners at Mt. Sac included Laron Brown, third in the high jump at 6-feet, 8 3/4 inches and tenth iin the triple jump at 46 feet, 11 1/2 inches; Kelly MacLean, fifth in the women's pole vault at 12 feet, 7 1/2 inches; Lamar Jackson, 4th in the men's 110 hurdles in 14.43; Juliane Masciana, eighth in the women's 3000 steeplechase in 10:35.18; and Jameena Hunt, tenth in the women's shot put at 45 feet, 1 1/2 inches.

Other Fullerton place winners at Long Beach included: Laron Brown sixth in the men's long jump at 23 feet, 9 1/2 inches; Lamar Jackson third in the men's 110 hurdles in 14.60; Chazz Evans, fifth in the women's 200 meters in 25.44; Bryan Luther third in the men's 200 in 21.92; and a victorious women's 4x100 relay team of Short, Kristyne Hanberg, Krizia Apelar and Ashley Taylor, who ran 46.59.
