Azusa and Walnut, Calif. - Field athletes shine brightest for Cal State Fullerton this weekend in competition at the Azusa Pacific Invitational and the Mt. Sac Relays.
Jameena Hunt broke her own school record again and placed third in the discus with a throw of 150 feet, 4 inches at the Azusa Pacific Invitational. Her old mark was 149 feet, 8 inches. Other women's highlights: Kimiah Hudson fifth (55.22), Nancy Blake eighth (56.08) and Brittany McClellan eleventh in the 400 at Mt. Sac; Karen Bardsley fifth in the javelin at 125-5 at Azusa; Kelly Figueria fifth in the long jump at 18 feet, 7 inches at Mt. Sac; Dalya Taman tied for fourth at 12 feet, 5 1/2 inches and Kelly McLean tied for seventh in the pole vault at Mt. Sac.; and the 4x100 relay team second at Azusa in 47.61.
Men's highlights: Scott Hutchison eighth in the discus at Mt. Sac at 185 feet and fifth at Azusa at 185 feet, 7 inches; Damien Nieves third in the 3000 meters at Azusa in 14:58.57 and Andrew Little tied for fifth in the pole vault at Mt. Sac at 15 feet, 1 3/4 inches.
Competition continues Sunday at Mt. Sac.
