Ken Ernst set an American record in the 5000 meters for men 50 years and older Saturday to highlight the Ben Brown Invitational Track and Field Meet hosted by Cal State Fullerton and Asics.

Ernst was clocked in 15:34.62 while finishing sixth in the Class "D" 5K run.

Approximately 2,000 athletes competed under very pleasant weather conditions.

Highlights for the host Titans included Kara Kalman clearing 12 feet in the women's pole vault for the first time in her career. She tied for fourth place. Javon May was seventh in the men's 110 hurdles in 15.16. Danielle Morton was eighth in the women's javelin at 114 feet, 3 inches and Marco Zaragoza was eighth in the "B" men's 5K in 15:00.45.
