All-Comers Meets A Hit

All-Comers Meets A Hit

Feb. 24, 2010

Fullerton, Calif. - By Asst. Track and Field Coach Brandit Copper

Runners take your mark...Set! Bang!... and the inaugural Cal State Fullerton All-comers Track Meet started and finished with flying colors.

Members from the community ranging from San Diego, San Bernardino, L.A. and Orange Counties filled the Titan Track Complex to set early season marks. Masters, collegiate, high school and youth athletes stepped onto the track, into the rings, and on our runways to measure their athletic abilities. Competitors had an opportunity to taste how it feels to compete on an NCAA Division I Track.

High praise was given by competitors, coaches and spectators on the efficiency of the meet. Many supporters of CSUF Track & Field were overjoyed to hear the track would be open for competition. Comments on how it was "about time" CSUF pushed back those rusty gates and allowed the public to compete. The smell of roasting hot dogs, cheers of fans along the home stretch and the crack of the gun could only mean that track and field season is just around the corner.

Special thanks go to the entire Cal State Fullerton track team for all of efforts in doing all the small jobs which allow for a well organized, and efficient meet. Also recognition and thanks must also go to all the volunteers from the CSUF athletic programs, community, and alumni for their support and help with the meet. Lastly, the CSUF coaching staff's efforts in the planning and managing of the meet are greatly appreciated. The CSUF staff will be looking to continue the running of All-comers Track Meets in the years to come.

Up next for the Titans will be the Annual Ben Brown Invitational, featuring the return of Hammer & Hotdogs at 11:00pm on Thursday, March 4th, the Ben Brown Invitational Meet at 9am on Saturday, March 6th, with the Distance Carnival to follow. Come out and support your Cal State Fullerton Titans!
