Sprinters Set School Records in Seattle

More records fell as Cal State Fullerton Track and Field wrapped up indoor action over the weekend at the University of Washington's Husky Classic at the Dempsey Indoor Facility.

Sophomore sprinter Ciara Short again entered the record book as she broke her own school record in the 200 meters with a time of 24.57. Short also tied the school mark in the 60 meters with at time of 7.68, matching Antonia Vega.

The second record breaking performance of the weekend belonged to sophomore sprinter Lauren Wiliams, who broke her own record in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.71.

Another noteworthy performance was that of the women's 4x400 meter race. The Titan "A" team comprised of Kristyne Hanburg, Ashley Taylor, Williams and Short finished with a time of 3:49.25.

"I'm very impressed with the ladies 4x4 performance -- we hung in there," said Head Coach John Elders. "The field was packed with great athletes.

"Ciara is really impressing me with her performance. She's obviously fit for this time of the year, which is great. I'm excited to see what she does come outdoor [season]."

Next on the schedule for the Titans is the first meet of the outdoor track season which is scheduled for Sunday, March 1 at Southern California's Katherine B. Loker Stadium in Los Angeles. Competition is scheduled to kick off at 10 a.m.
