Albuquerque, NM -

Sophomore Katie Wilson posted her second personal best in two nights to highlight Cal State Fullerton's first indoor track and field meet of the year at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic.

Wilson ran the 400 meters in 55.75 to finish in seventh place. She had posted a PR the night before in the 200 meters.

The Titans also were encouraged by freshman Amanda Mercado's mark of 14.46 meters in the weight throw, good for 14th place.

"That's the first time Amanda has thrown the weight indoors and her mark was better than the one Jameena Hunt had in her first freshman meet and that's encouraging," said Head Coach John Elders.

"Overall, the coaching staff thought it was a good experience and effort. This was our first indoor meet while most of our competitors had a couple under their belts, so we were at somewhat of a disadvantage."

Fullerton competes again on Saturday with the distance runners at the Husky Classic in Seattle and the balance of the squad at the Northern Arizona Open in Flagstaff.
