NORTHRIDGE, CA - Both the Cal State Fullerton men's and women's track and field teams stand in sixth place following day three action at the 2007 Big West Conference Track and Field Championships hosted by Cal State Northridge.
On the men's side, UC Santa Barbara amassed 70.5 points to claim the top spot after the days' events. Cal Poly is in second place with 63 points, while Cal State Northridge rounds out the top three with 56 tallies.
UC Irvine stands in fourth place with 35 points, while fifth place is occupied by Long Beach State with 24 points. Cal State Fullerton (22) and UC Riverside (2.5) round out the scoring on the men's side.
In the women's half of the competition, the Matadors own the lead after collecting 72 points, 26 more than second place UC Santa Barbara. Third place belongs to Cal Poly with 41 points, while Long Beach State stands in fourth with 33.5 tallies.
UC Irvine is next in fifth with 17 points, while Cal State Fullerton (16) and UC Riverside (8.5) are sixth and seventh, respectively.

On the men's side, Laron Brown got the Titans off to a good start in the field events, tying for 1st place in the high jump with a leap of 6 feet, 10 3/4 inches and placing third in the long jump with a jump of 24 feet, 1 3/4 inches, which is an NCAA regional qualifying mark.
Scott Hutchison also posted a top five finish in men's hammer, placing fourth in the event with a throw of 185 feet.
On the women's side, Dalya Taman and Karen Bardsley each posted top five finishes in pole vault and javelin, respectively. Talman vaulted 11 feet, 11 3/4 inches to finish fifth while Bardsley finished fifth in the javelin with a throw of 135 feet, 4 inches, which broke the school record.
In the day's only other finals, Amanda Eichmann finished fifth in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 11:15.47 and was followed closely by Kirsten Drake in seventh with a time of 11:26.26.
On the men's side, Damien Nieves finished eighth with a time of 9:19.79.
In the 10,000m run, Andrea Aguilar finished ninth with a time of 37:51.35 and was followed by Luz Valdez in 10th with a time of 38:08.46. On the men's side, Jordan Horn finished fifth with a time of 30:49.02 and was joined in the top 10 by teammate Sergio Tapia with a time of 31:22.77

100m HURDLES
Dinah Clark qualified first in the women's 100m hurdles with a time of 13.98... on the men's side, Lamar Jackson (14.34) and Chastin McKeel (15.14) qualified fourth and ninth for Saturday's finals in the 100m hurdles with Jackson setting a school record...
400m DASH
Kimiah Hudson (54.47), Kandace Wilson (55.70), and Nancy Blake (55.74) posted three of the top four qualifying times for the women's 400m as Hudson ran a regional qualifying time to place first... Brittany McClellan also qualified ninth with a time of 57.18... on the men's side, Chris Epstein ran the second-fastest time in the men's 400m with a time of 47.60 and was followed in tomorrow's final group by Chase Frazier (47.93) and Maurice Chappell (48.06)...
100m DASH
Antonia Vega (11.93) qualified fifth in the women's 100m and is joined by teammates Yewande Findley (12.03) and Kelly Figueira (12.10)... on the men's side, Marques Barosso and Lawrence Trice qualified with times of 10.58 and 10.69, respectively...
400m HURDLES
Elizabeth Bastos and Danielle Alvarado qualified 8th and 9th in the women's 400m hurdles with times of 65.02 and 65.18... on the men's side, Roberto Archibold was fourth in the preliminaries with a time of 53.01.
200m DASH
Kandace Wilson ran the fifth fastest time in the prelims with a time of 24.40 as the only Titan in Sunday's finals... on the men's side, Chris Epstein ran the fastest time of the day (21.40) to qualify first and will be joined by teammates Maurice Chappell and Marques Barosso.
Sunday's action is set to begin at noon with the women's shot put, men's discus and women's triple jump. The track finals begin at 3 p.m. with the men's 4x100-meter relay final.
