Titan Women 2nd, Men 3rd at Challenge Cup

Irvine, Calif. - Johnathan Golden and Laron Brown for the men and Jameena Hunt for the women were top point scorers for Cal State Fullerton as the Titan women placed second and the men were third at the annual Big West Challenge Cup track and field meet Friday evening at UC Irvine.

Golden won the triple jump at 48 feet, 8 1/4 inches and was second in the high jump at 6 feet, 10 3/4 inches. Brown was just about the opposite, winning the high jump on fewer misses and placing second in the long jump at 22 feet, 9 3/4 inches. Hunt won the women's hammer at 164 feet, 7 inches, was second in the shot put at 45 feet, 10 inches and sixth in the discus.

Other top point producers were:

Kristyne Hanberg, second in both the 100 and 200

Lauren Williams, second in both hurdles races

Lawrence Trice, second in both the men's 100 and 200

Long Beach State won both divisions with 221 points for the women and 231 for the men. The Titan women had 170 points to beat out UC Irvine at 141 and UC Santa Barbara at 133. UCI's men were second with 153 pionts while the Titans had 148 and UCSB had 142.
