Irvine, Calif. - Senior Lauren Williams won the 100 meter hurdles and Ginny English won the pole vault on fewer misses to capture Cal State Fullerton's only first-place finishes Friday night at the Big West Challenge track and field meet at UC Irvine.

The Titans finished fourth in both men's and women's competition. UC Santa Barbara won the women's side ahead of UCI, Long Beach State and Fullerton. On the men's side, Long Beach was first ahead of UCSB, UCI and CSF.

Fullerton standout sprinter Ciara Short did not compete. Williams won her specialty in 13.84 seconds.

The Titan men got a third-place showing in the shot put from Eric Grunbaum at 49 feet, 5 1//2 inches, and Andrew Sullivan was fourth in the pole vault at 15 feet, 7 inches.

For the Fullerton women, English cleared 11 feet, 7 3/4 inches to win the vault with no misses until the final height, and Danielle Morton was fourth in the javelin at 116 feet, 2 inches.
