Cornell Dominates Twilight Track Meet

Fullerton, Calif. - Cornell dominated the Twilight Open track and field meet Friday evening at Cal State Fullerton, winning at least a section of 22 of the 28 events.

The Big Red won 15 women's events and 7 men's events. They got three sets of double wins -- from Kristen Brandt in the women's long and triple jump, Duane Teixeira in the men's long and triple jumps and Bob Belden in the men's shot put and discus.

Host Cal State Fullerton, which competes in earnest Saturday and Sunday at the California/Nevada Championships at UCLA, had only a few entries. Tyler Ruffino was second in his section of the men's 800, Andrew Sullivan was third in the men's pole vault, Sandy Gonzales was second in the women's high jump and Susanne Hotchkin and Alison Stamos finished third and fourth in the women's pole vault. Titan alumnae Juliane Masciana won the 3000 meter steeplechase.
