Seattle, WA - Carolyn Ellis and two teammates all broke the Cal State Fullerton school record in the indoor 3,000 meters Saturday to pace the Titans' weekend efforts at the Husky Classic and Hosky Open Indoor Track and Field Meets at the University of Washington.

Ellis ran 9:40.63 to finish in 17th place. She was trailed by Grace Gonzales in 9:54.35 for 33rd place and Juliane Masciana in 10:02.76 for 43rd place as all three broke the school record. Masciana also bested the school's outdoor record which is 9:43.83 by Mary Kenney in 1987. Erin Griffith ran 10:12.26 to finish in 55th place.

In the shot put, Jameena Hunt again broke her school record with a best effort of 45 feet, 3 1/2 inches to finish in ninth place. Diana Villanueva again beat her personal best with a mark of 44 feet, 2 3/4 inches in the weight throw.

"Saturday's performance was a real affirmation of the hard work the distance gals have put in," said Head Coach John Elders. "It's a good sign that they were able to run this fast this early in the season.

"That was about a 30 second personal best for Juliane and 8 or 9 seconds for Erin and the equivalent of 26 seconds for Grace."

The 4x400 relay team of Brittany McClellan, Kristyne Hanberg, Chelsea Moreland and Channing Moreland won their section with a time of 3:52.88 to finish seventh overall.

Six Titans competed Sunday in the Husky Open -- Jasmine Loutsis in the 800 meters, Janey Davis in the long jump, Brenetta Wallace in the 60 and 200, Lauren Williams in the 60 hurdles and 200, and Gayle Greenough and Kelly MacLean in the pole vault.

In only her second collegiate race, Williams broke the school record in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.72 seconds, good for second place in her final.

"This was a great sign," said Elders. "She is very talented and is exceeding our expectations."

Wallace ran fourth in the 60 meter dash in 7.84 and Loutsisran the 800 in 2:20.52, about 7 seconds faster than her time a week ago.
Greenough cleared a personal best 11 feet, 6 3/4 inches in the pole vault and had good efforts at 12 feet.
