Short Bests Marks Again

Flagstaff, Ariz. - Ciara Short again broke her own school indoor records in winning the 400 and placing second in the 200 at the NAU Open Indoor Track and Field Meet Saturday.

Short won the 400 in 53.80, knocking .09 seconds off her previous best effort. In the 200 she finished behind Leslie Cole of Team Nike (23.55) in a time of 23.85, bettering her record of 24.06 by .21 seconds. Fullerton's Katie Wilson was seventh in the 200 in 25.44 and fourth in the 400 in 56.44.

Teammate Lauren Williams ran second in the 60 meter hurldes in 8.63 seconds, trailiinng Shaye Maurer of Southern Utah in 8.60.

Short and Williams teamed up with Wilson and Krizia Apelar for a time of 3:57.03 to finish third in the 4x400 relay behind UNLV and Southern Utah.

In other events, Ginny English tied for second in the pole vault at 11 feet, 5 3/4 inches and Bonnie Sorensen was fifth in the long jump at 17 feet, 4 1/4 inches.

Running in the Husky Classic in Seattle, Washington, Fullerton's Lauren McIntyre (10:08.62) and Grace Gonzales (10:13.70) ran 62nd and 68th, respectively, in the 3000 meter run.
