Several School Indoor Records Fall in Seattle

Feb. 11, 2007

Seattle, Wash. -

Cal State Fullerton competed Saturday in the Husky Indoor Track and Field Classic in Seattle, Washington, against a top quality field and came away with some impressive performances.

"This was a great performance for our athletes at a meet that included several PAC-10 schools as well as some other top programs from all over the country," said Head Coach John Elders.

To be represented in the finals of the short sprint and hurdle events and to have major improvements across the board has us feeling really good going into the upcoming outdoor season."

Titan highlights:

Kimiah Hudson set school indoor record in the 400m with a time of 56.48.

-

Dinah Clark shattered her own school record in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.73. The time enabled her to advance to the final later in the meet.

-

The women's 4x400m team consisting of Brittany McClellan, Nancy Blake, Kristyne Hanberg and Kimiah Hudson set theschool indoor record with a time of 3:50.95.

-

Antonia Vega advanced to the final of the 60m and ran a very fast 7.74.

-

Vega and Hanberg were also impressive in the 200m, running 25.33 & 25.36, respectively, on a track that is tough to run a fast 200m because of its tight turns

-

Carolyn Ellis ran a PR in the 3000m, dropping 12 seconds from last year, running 10:07.26. Ellis has returned strong after missing most of last spring, summer & fall with an injury.

-

Luz Valdez dropped 17 seconds off her indoor 5000m PR, running 18:17.92.

-

An encouraging note in the field events was the return of Kelly Figueira in the long jump. It was her first long jump competition since blowing out her ACL at the 2005 Big West Outdoor Championships long jump. Her mark of 17-feet does not appear spectacular at face value, but it was with a short run and the knee felt great.

-

Jon Pratter and Marques Barosso both advanced to the final in the 60m and ran identical times of 6.88. Barosso also came back strong in the 200m, bettering his time at NAU, running a 21.90.

-

Jordan Horn ran his first-ever indoor meet, running 14:11.22 in the 5000m, which is only 5 seconds off his outdoor school record of 14:06.09, and a very fast time for this time of year.
