Kenny McDaniel
Previous College: Pittsburg State, '99
Position: Assistant Coach (3rd season)

Kenny McDaniel is in his third year with the Titan track and field program, having joined the staff in fall of 2004.

After just one season at Cal State Fullerton, McDaniel recruited and signed the best class of sprinters and hurdlers in school history.

"Coach McDaniel has had an immediate impact on our program," Head Coach John Elders said. "He brings a wealth of excitement, enthusiasm, knowledge and leadership skills to guide the Titans' sprint, hurdles and relay squads to be the best in the Big West Conference and nationally."

During his first two seasons, McDaniel's group broke two school records and produced seven regional qualifiers, seven all-conference performers and six all-regional honors. The Titan upperclassmen really thrived under McDaniel's watchful eye, making spectacular improvements.

Former team captain Destany Cearley announced herself to the Big West Conference and the NCAA West Regional Championships in 2005 & 2006 by turning in performances that earned her all-conference and NCAA All-West Regional 400 IH athlete accolades. She also shattered the school record in the 400IH and 4 x 400 meter relay.

Second-year phenom Nancy Blake of Los Angles concluded her high school career with a personal best of 58.06 in the 400m, but at the mid-point of her first collegiate season she won the 400m title at the Cal/ Nev Championships, running a life time best of 54.89, which ranked her among the top two marks in the Big West Conference. Blake turned in another sub-56 second 400m performance to qualify for U.S. juniors last summer.

Also adding major explosion to the Titan sprint & hurdle program was Dinah Clark, a junior, who transferred from Fresno City College with a personal best mark of 14.70 in the 100m hurdles. She lowered her time to 13.98 at the Big West Conference Championships in 2006.

The men's program has emerged under the guidance of McDaniel into one of the leading men's programs in the conference. Standout sprinter Marques Barosso entered CSF from the community college ranks (Modesto JC) with a personal best of 21.96 and lowered his best mark to 20.98w/21.46, which earned him the Big West championship last Spring. The men's 4x100m relay squad was ranked in the top two in the conference and qualified for the West Regional Championships 2006.

McDaniel, aka"Coach Mac," joined the Titans after a four-year stint with the Gators of San Francisco State University men;s and women's team. During his time at San Francisco State, McDaniel's athletes rewrote three school records, had six All-CCAA Conference honors and a pair of NCAA Division II National Qualifiers in the 100m and 200m. McDaniel's relay teams were ranked in the top three in the conference three out of four years and ranked in the top 15 nationally once.

McDaniel received his USATF Level II Sprints & Hurdles certification this past summer in Virginia.

McDaniel was a sprinter and hurdler at Pittsburgh State in Pittsburgh, Kanasas, where he obtained a degree in general studies with an emphasis in physical education and nutrition in 1999. Earlier, he attended Blinn College in Brenham, Texas, where he was part of an NJCAA national championship team in 1995, and Kansas City Community College in Kansas City, Kansas.

He remained as a student assistant coach at Pittsburgh State before heading to San Francisco.
