Bergman Sets Women’s Mile School Record at Steve Scott Invitational

IRVINE, Calif. — Mia Bergman set a school record in the women's mile as Cal State Fullerton track and field made a strong showing Friday at the Steve Scott Invitational.

Bergman raced the women's mile in a time of 4:43.54, good for fifth place overall and a new school record. Olivia Ruiz followed with a time of 4:55.65, while Unique Ford (15th, 4:58.13) and Dana McGrath (18th, 4:58.44) also posted top-20 finishes in the event. 

A pair of Titan men posted silver-medal finishes on the day, including Sam Heinrichs, who finished second in the men's pole vault with a clearance mark of 5.12m. Ernesto Collazo took third in the event with a clearance of 4.97m and Daniel Palacio took fifth with a 4.82m. 

Christian Wood finished second in the men's long jump after recording a mark of 7.43m. Camren Willis took fifth with a 7.31m. Joshua Tan took fourth place in the men's hammer throw, posting a mark of 57.85m. 

In the men's 3000m steeplechase, Tony Chavez raced to a time of 9:20.22 to finish third overall. Jicel Fernandez Ramirez finished the women's 3000m steeplechase in sixth place, clocking a 11:03.32. Sarah Jamil finished right behind in seventh place with a time of 11:12.65. 

Alexis Garcia raced the men's mile in a time of 4:08.76, finishing ninth. Vicente Huerta followed in tenth place with a 4:09.15. 

Catherine Dahlberg took fourth place in the women's javelin, posting a mark of 36.68m. Andi Woods followed in eighth place with a mark of 32.76m. Natalia Delgado was the top Titan finisher in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 47.17m, finishing 11th. 

The Titans resume competition at the Steve Scott Invitational tomorrow, Saturday, April 29th.
