IRVINE, Calif. — Andrew Aguilar has been named The Big West Men's Field Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Aguilar placed fourth overall in the men's collegiate decathlon last week at the Mt. SAC Relays with a score of 7239, breaking his own school record set at last year's Big West Championships. His point total is the highest in The Big West this season and ranks 17th in the NCAA West Region, putting him in contention to compete at the NCAA Championships in June.
Aguilar also achieved a new personal-best in the long jump as part of the decathlon with a mark of 7.12m, which is the eighth best in the conference this season. The Chino Hills native also posted a new personal-best in the 400m, with a time of 48.95.
The Titans compete at home this week in the Battle in the OC, taking place on Thursday, April 20th.
