Six Titans Record Event Wins at Challenge Cup

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — Six different Titans recorded event wins while Fullerton's men's 4x100m relay also took gold Friday at the Challenge Cup. 

Sarah Jamil recorded the first individual win Friday in the women's 3000m steeplechase, winning the event with a time of 11:33.20. Kaitlyn Atkinson finished second in the event, running it in 11:53.31. London Lee won the women's triple jump with a mark of 12.16m. 

On the men's side, Justin Lowe took gold in the 200m after clocking a time of 21.31. Isaiah Emerson finished third in the event after running a time of 21.50. Emerson also took gold in the men's 400m race, clocking a 47.46. 

Abel Jordan won the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 14.20, while Matthew Uballe placed third with a 14.61. In the men's long jump, Christian Wood won with a mark of 7.39m and Will Dower placed second with a 7.20m. The Titans' men's 4x100m relay also took home gold, with Dominic Gates, Carter Birade, Naythn Scruggs and Abel Jordan clocking a winning time of 40.15. 

Several additional Titans posted top-three finishes in Santa Barbara, including Dana McGrath and Bella Smith, who placed second and third in the women's 1500m with times of 4:39.39 and 4:41.27, respectively. Trinity Barnett and Rayann Booker finished second and third in the women's 100m, with Barnett clocking a 11.92 and Booker a 11.98. 

Gates took second in the men's 100m with a time of 10.58, while John Clifford finished close behind in third with a time of 10.67. Ashlynn Virmanotes finished third in the women's 800m (2:15.12) and Kishan Patel took third in the men's 800m (1:55.57). 

In the women's discus, Kyliegh Wilkerson took third with a mark of 43.98m while Evalen Garcia also took third in the women's shot put with a 13.50m. Jeff Morris took bronze in the men's high jump with a clearance of 1.96m. Emily Olson and Sally Silengo finished second and third in the women's 3000m, with Olson running a 10:35.82 and Silengo a 10:37.50. Sam Heinrichs took bronze in the men's pole vault with a clearance of 4.96m. 

The Titans' relay teams solidified a strong showing Friday, with the men's 4x400m team taking second after Chris Goode, Emerson, Lowe and Ernesto Collazo running a 3:16.51. The Titans' women's 4x400m team placed third, with Soaris, Booker, Deja Thomas and Faith Jones running a time of 4:09.29. 

Up next, the Titans prepare for a trio of meets next week, starting with the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific April 12-15. Fullerton will also feature competitors at the Long Beach Collegiate Invitational on April 13th and the Mt. SAC Invite April 13-15.
