Ford Wins 1500m and Aguilar in Third After Day One

DAVIS, CALIF. – Andrew Aguilar set a new day one personal best in the men's decathlon thru five events at the 2022 Big West Conference Multis Championships in Davis, California. Aguilar scored 3603 points to find himself in third place, just 116 points off the leader Brad Thomas of UC Santa Barbara. Day two of competition is set to begin with the 110H tomorrow at 12:00PM PST. 

Back at home, the Titans hosted the Titan Tune-Up in Fullerton, California where the Titan men placed runners second thru fifth in 1500m run. Erik Gonzalez (4:03.44), Cayden Ruiz (4:03.56), JT McCoy (4:09.66), Nicolas DiConti (4:11.59). On the women's side, there was complete dominance led by Unique Ford who finished first in the women's 1500m with a time of 4:40.61. Laura Velasco finished second with a time of 4:44.37, while Katie Farr (4:47.19), Sarah Jamil (4:48.34), Emily Olson (4:49.87), Sally Silengo (4:59.70), and Mariah Theologidy (5:02.32) would all finish third through seventh out of twenty-three competitors.

Lauren Delgadillo won the women's 400m dash with a time of 58.00 with teammate Deja Allain right behind her with a second-place finish after completing one lap around the track in 58.76. Allain came back in the women's 200m to finish fifth overall after running a wind legal time of 25.01 (+0.1).

In the men's 800m, Kishan Patel led the way for the Titans as he ran 1:56.02 to finish fourth overall. Katie Farr led the way for the women in the 800m after running a negative split in her final lap to clock in at 2:19.62 and finish sixth overall. Joshua Tan threw 57.74m (189'5") in the men's hammer throw to finish fifth overall. Kyliegh Wilkerson finished fifth overall in the women's hammer throw after a toss of 47.58 (156'1").

Sean Ayale took first place in the men's triple jump after a conference qualifying leap of 13.55m (44'5.5"). Ayale came back to finish third in the men's long jump after a leap of 6.89m (22'7.25") on his final attempt.

Ashley Harritt cleard 3.71m in the women's pole vault to finish second overall. Dylan Beveridge finished third overall after clearing 3.56m on her first attempt.

The Titans will be back in action next weekend as the 2022 Big West Track & Field Championships continue in Davis, California.
