Titans Open Up 2022 Season With Multiple Event Wins

RIVERSIDE, CALIF. – Titans opened their 2022 outdoor season with multiple event wins on the women's side as Olivia Ruiz and Marikay Schwab finish first and second in the women's 1500m after running 4:42.57 and 4:43.73 to start off the day. Madison Moku and Elena Shipillis finish first and second as well after running 16.06 and 16.45 in the women's 100mH. In the women's 100m dash, Lauren Delgadillo runs 12.12 (+3.8) and away from the field to win her season opening race.

In the field events, Kiera Cruz won the women's discus with a throw of 40.38m (132'5") and took second in the women's hammer throw after a toss of 47.62m (156'2"). Women's pole vault squad swept the event as Dylan Beveridge took first after clearing 3.61m, Erika Flaherty (3.61m) took second, and Ashley Harritt (3.46m) third. Kaylak McNairy (12.74m) and Keely Togafau (12.07m) finish first and third in the women's shot put. The winning continued for the Titans as Alexis Vincent-Walker finished first in the women's high jump after clearing 1.55m.

On the men's side, coming off an MPSF Championship win in the men's long jump two weeks ago, Christian Wood wins the men's 100m dash after running 10.88 (+1.2).  Jake Smith finished second overall in the men's 1500m after running 3:54.46 to open his 2022 outdoor season. In the men's 200m dash, two Titans tie for a first-place finish as Isaiah Marecheau and Chris Shiley both run 22.090 (+1.3).

The men's pole-vault squad swept the event after finishing one, two, three. Led by Ernesto Collazo (4.76m). Thomas Slakey and Daniel Palacio would both 4.61m to finish second and third respectively. Courvosiea Irby opened up is outdoor season with the Titans finshing second in the men's shot put after a toss of 13.76m (45'1.75"). Willard Morris wins the men's high jump after clearing 2.00m (6'6.75")

Titans will be back in action next weekend as they are set to host the Astro AI Distance Classic and Ben Brown Invitational at Cal State Fullerton March 11-12, 2022.
