Titan Men Stop The Zot at OC Dual

IRVINE, CALIF. – Titan Men dominated the OC Dual meet hosted by UC Irvine. The men kick started their performance in the 400m relay, winning with a time of 41.55 posted by Wood, Scruggs, Pierce, and Samaniego. John Welch (Fr) ran a new personal best to win the men's 1500m with a time of 4:00.54. Charles Kelly (14.35) and Matt Cohen (14.92) finish first and third in the men's 110H. 

Justin Lowe (47.7981) out leaned teammate Charles Kelly (47.7982) by a hair to win the men's 400m dash. Reyte Rash (Fr) would complete the Fullerton sweep by taking third with a time of 48.43. Nathyn Scruggs (Fr) won the men's 100m dash with a time of 10.83 (+1.6) while teammates Rasaun House (10.84) and Christian Wood (10.98) finish second and third to complete another sweep for the Titans. Lowe (21.67) and Scruggs (21.73) would return in the men's 200m to finish first and third. Reyte Rash, Rasuan House, Charles Kelly, and Justin Lowe made up the men's 1600m relay team and won in a time of 3:15.33.

In the field events, Connor Anderson won the men's hammer throw with a toss of 57.12m (187'5") and Tanner Miller took second with a toss of 56.84m (186'5"). Daniel Palacio competed in his first meet of the season after recovering from an elbow fracture. Palacio finished third in the men's pole vault, behind teammates Ernesto Collazo (4.82m) and Samuel Heinrichs (4.82m), after clearing 4.67m (15'3.75") thus meeting the qualifying mark for the Big West Conference championships.

On the women's side, Evalen Garcia won the women's shot put after a throw of 12.89m (42'3.5"). Kyliegh Wilkerson (Fr) took third with a throw of 12.67m (41'7"). Erika Flaherty (Fr) won the women's pole after clearing 3.51m (11'6.25"). In the women's javelin throw, Andrea Woods (35.14m) and Catherine Dahlberg (31.11m) finish first and second. Iesha Hamm (SR) remains undefeated this season as she solidified her win after clearing her opening hieght of 1.71m (5'9.25").

Samantha Huerta (Sr) won the women's 800m by over nine seconds, with a time of 2:06.47. Huerta's time ranks her 18th in the West Region. Meanwhile, freshman Laura Velasco ran a new personal best in the women's 1500m to take third with a time of 4:50.63.

Tammy Vien (Sr) ran a new season best 14.69 (+1.4) in the women's 100H and finished second behind Amari Fraser of UC Irvine. The Lady Titans would sweep the women's 400m dash with Maya Occiano (Fr) crossing the line first in a time of 57.89, followed by freshman Jenna Krostag (59.30) and Toren Dunbar (1:02.06).

The Titans will be back in action next Thursday April 29th – Friday April 30th,  as the squad splits between the UCR Invite and the Long Beach State Invitational.
