LAS VEGAS, NEV. – The final day of the Silver State Classic brought personal best for multiple Titans. Christian Wood (So) jumped his way into a new personal best and took second after a leap of 7.20m in the men's long jump. Juwan Seales set a personal best in the men's triple jump after a leap of 15.20m. Freshman Reyte Rash ran a new personal best in the men's 400H with a time of 52.52. Matt Cohen ran a new personal best in the men's 110H with a time of 14.68w (4.4).
Maya Occiano (Fr) won her heat in the women's 400H in a time of 1:01.77 and finished second overall.
In the field events, Corey Gilbert (Sr) took second in the men's discus in his final attempt with a throw of 53.55m. Marcel Sylvester won the men's high jump after clearing 2.05m in his final attempt at that height.
Iesha Hamm won the women's high jump after clearing 1.78m and remains undefeated in the 2021 outdoor season. Teammate Jelani Minx finished third clearing 1.62m and moves into the number eight slot on the Titans All-Time list. Freshman Kyliegh Wilkerson finished third in the women's discus with a throw of 42.43m.
AZUSA, CALIF. – The distance squad wrapped up the Bryan Clay Invitational with strong performances in the men's and women's 1500m. Sam Huerta (Sr) ran a new personal best of 4:18.20 in the women's 1500m finishing eighth overall and breaking her own school record. Sammy Ayala (Sr) would also break his own school record in the men's 1500m with a time of 3:43.05, just a week later after breaking Steve Frisone's record during the Fullerton Spring Invite. Demi Marine (Sr) finished 11th overall in the womens 10,000m run in a time of 37:03.4 which is good enough to place her in the Titans Top 10 All-Time list.
The Titans sprints and distance team will reunite and be back in action next Thursday April 22nd at the OC Dual hosted by UC Irvine.
