Ruelas Runs Big West Leading Time

IRVINE, Calif. – Anteater Distance Twilight brought season opening wins and personal best for multiple Titans. Trinity Ruelas won the women's 5000m in a time of 16:33.37. Ruelas' time is one second shy of her PR and current school record (16:32.56). This time also stands as the number one mark in the Big West Conference. 

Sara Hollis set a new personal best and won the women's 3000m Steeple by over a minute with a winning time of 10:52.66. Katie Farr finishes third with a time of 12:23.31. Samantha Huerta opened up her 2021 season with a win in the women's 1500m running 4:30.63 while transfer Dana McGrath ran a new personal best (4:43.01) and Senior Demi Marine running a personal best (4:44.59).

On the mens side, Marcel Espinoza showcased his range as an athlete by running the men's 800m in a time of 1:58.54 finishing third. Teammate Justin Larson finished fourth with a time of 1:58.93. Bobby Brana won the men's 3000m steeple and set a new personal best of 9:23.46. Freshman Tony Chavez ran his 3000m steeple and finishes second with a time of 9:38.38.

Sam Ayala finishes third in the men's 1500m with a time of 3:50.73, just shy of the current school record (3:48.98) while teammate Jeremiah Castellano set a new personal best running 3:57.77. Sam Pimentel won the men's 5000m in a time of 14:39.88.

This Saturday, the rest of the Titans will be in action at the Jim Bush Legends Invite hosted by UCLA.
