FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton women's track and field junior Samantha Huerta has been named Big West Women's Track Athlete of the Week for the second time in a row after breaking her own school record once again, this time in the 1,500-meter race.

The La Mirada native won the Big West Women's Track Athlete of the Week award for the second straight time, breaking her own school record in the 1,500 meters. Huerta clocked 4:25.03 to finish in second place – first among collegians – and eclipsed her previous best of 4:25.16. Her time is currently No. 2 in the country and first in the West Region. Huerta also won the 800 meters with a time of 2:08.24, which ranks third nationally and fourth in the West. Both her 800 and 1500 marks are tops in the Big West.
