Records Fall on Day One of Ben Brown Invitational

FULLERTON, Calif. --- Two Cal State Fullerton outdoor track and field records were broken on the first day of competition at the Ben Brown Invitational, Friday at Titan Track Complex.

 

Junior Trevor Gorwin set a new mark in the hammer throw at 60.9 meters, besting Steven Parsons record of 58.6 meters set in 2016. The throw was good for third place.

 

In addition, sophomore Kelsey McKelvey broke her own record in the javelin throw with a mark of 42.64 meters, placing first in the event. McKelvey tied the record a year ago with a throw of 41.26 meters.

 

Junior Brianna Jacklin set a new personal record of 17:19.44 in the 5,000 meters, placing fourth, while junior Arianna Fuentes also set PR clocking a time of 17:30.63 to finish eighth.

 

Futhermore, freshman Jorge Sanchez raced to a time of 14:55.54 in the 5,000 meters, finishing eighth after competing in the event for the first time this season.

 

The Titans return to action on Saturday at the Ben Brown Invitational at Titan Track Complex.
