FULLERTON, Calif. – The men's and women's outdoor track and field team had a strong second-day performance at the Mt. Sac Relays and the Beach Invite on Friday.

The sprinters recorded six new personal records while four Titans put themselves in the top four in the Big West in their respective events.

The men had a big performance at the Mt. Sac Relays as Thaddeus Smith returned to the track in the 200m dash, recording a Big West leading time of 20.90. His run would have broken his own school record that he set earlier in the season, yet the wind was recorded at 2.7 to disqualify him from the school record.

Eli Penick found himself in a similar situation as Smith, setting a new personal record in the 100m dash with his time of 1.43, yet the wind disqualified him from the school record as well. Yet his performance punched a ticket for him to the NCAA Regionals after besting his previous record by 0.12 seconds.

The men sprinters recorded one more personal record at Mt. Sac with Mason Guzman-Sanchez running his best time ever in the 110m hurdles by 0.1 seconds with his time of 14.61, good for 17th out of the field of 39 runners.

Rounding out the personal records for the men, Steven Parsons once again broke his personal best in the hammer throw, beating out his throw of 56.61m yesterday with his throw of 56.84m today at the Beach Invite.

Three Titan women also set new personal bests at Mt. Sac, starting with Elizabeth Claustro who finished 2nd overall in the 400m hurdles.

Claustro set a new personal record with her time of 1:00.06, good for 2nd in the Big West while also edging out Big West leader, Emma Redick of UC Davis, by less than a second in the finals.

Morgan Love also had a strong performance in the 400m dash, running a personal best of 55.85, good for 4th overall in the Big West.

Rounding out the group was India Owens who ran a personal best in the 400m hurdles and finishing 10th overall with her time of 1:01.40.

The Titans return to the track for the final day of the Beach Invite tomorrow.
