Titans Perform at Big West Challenge

FULLERTON, Calif. - The men's and women's outdoor track and field team won five different events in their second home meet of the season, the Big West Challenge, at Titan Track on Friday.

Eli Penick won both the 100-meter and 200-meter dash while the women saw three winners in Jessica Flores in the hammer, Zuri Henderson in the 400-meter and the women's 4x400m relay team.

"I thought both squads competed well despite being short-handed due to injuries," said head coach John Elders. "We definitely would have competed for the win if we were at full strength."

Penick's event wins registered as both a season best in the 100m with his time of 10.55 while setting a new personal record in the 200m with his time of 21.62.

Jessica Flores recorded her second first-place finish in the hammer throw with her second best throw of the season at 58.09m.

Zuri Henderson recorded her first career first-place finish with her time of 55.80 in the 400m dash while the 4x400m relay team, consisting of India Owens, Alexandria Stewart, Elizabeth Claustro and Henderson, improved their conference leading time to 3:44.89.
