FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton women's track and field team earned its second Big West Player of the Week nod of the season thanks to Jessica Flores' record-breaking hammer throw at the University of Las Vegas Spring Invitational on Mar. 20.

The junior shattered Cal State Fullerton's previous school record of 185-feet-1 inch, set in 2010 by Jameena Hunt, after her fourth attempt at the UNLV Spring Invite flew 196-feet-5 inches.  Flores took home the top spot in the hammer throw event; beating out second-place Cortney Miller by nearly one foot.

The Fresno, Calif. native's toss surpassed her previous personal-best throw by just over 22 feet and is the the top throw in the Big West Conference in addition to being one of the top-ten hammer throws in the NCAA so far this season.

The Titans are back in competition on Thursday in Riverside, Calif. to take part in the three-day UC Riverside Spring Track Classic starting at 11:00 a.m. at UC Riverside Track Facility.

Others nominated (Women's Field):
Breanna Standifer (UC Davis); Deja Watkins (UC Riverside); Alex Porlier Langlois (Hawai'i)
