FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton track and field program heads across the country to Philadelphia, Pa. to compete in the 120th Annual Penn Relays, hosted by the University of Pennsylvania at historic Franklin Field.
The Titans will send a small group of seven athletes to compete in multiple events. Last year, there were 48,871 in attendance at the relays on Saturday and over the three-days a total of 111,284 fans witnessed the relays.
Representing Fullerton this weekend will be Alexandria Stewart, Ashley Sims, Destinee Brown, Janaya Shorty, Jasmyne Davis, Katie Wilson, and Deena Pierce.
Wilson looks to improve on her season best time of 54.22 in the 400-meter, which currently ranks best in the Big West and is good for 32nd in the NCAA West Region. The Titans will also try and build on its 4x400m relay time of 3:42.15, which they set at last weekend's Mt. SAC Relays.
Brown's 11.64 mark in the 100-meter and 23.83 time in the 200-meter ranks second in the conference, while Sims ranks sixth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.17.
In the hurdles, junior Deena Pierce has been impressive for the Titans as she holds ranks of fifth and seventh in the 100-meter (14.11) and 400-meter hurdles (1:01.43).
The collegiate competition will get underway at 7:00 a.m. PT on Thursday with the women's discus throw and will conclude at 2:50 p.m. PT on Saturday with the women's 4x400 relay on Saturday.
