Titans With Impressive Showing at UCR Invite

RIVERSIDE, Calif.- Cal State Fullerton finished the UC Riverside Invitational with a bang on Saturday, as the Titans ended the meet in fourth (men's) and fifth (women's) in Riverside, Calif.

"We performed well over the weekend and we had multiple great performances. We can always improve as a whole and we can improve as we move towards the conference meet," said head coach John Elders.

On the women's side the Titans set a new school record in the 4x100m with a time of 45.22 as a team comprised of Alexandria Stewart, Destinee Brown, Katie Wilson, and Ashley Sims ran the relay.

Brown, who set a meet record in the 100-meter last weekend in Irvine, posted a personal best and finished first in the same event with a time of 11.64 on Saturday. Wilson also performed a season-best in the 400-meter with a time of 24.31.

In the 100-meter hurdles, junior Deena Pierce executed a season-best time of 14.11 and Tenia Sebastian finished ninth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.66. Pierce also had a season-best of 63.22 in the 400-m hurdles as she finished eighth. 

On the men's side, Daniel York-Mouton won the 400-meter race with a time of 48.30 and helped the 4x400m relay team comprised of Taylor Ros, Joshua Gordon, Malek Walls, and York-Mouton win the relay with a time of 3:14.73.

Freshman Shelby Hernandez Jr. also set a personal best in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:53.64. In the field events Jasmyne Davis finished sixth in the triple jump with a personal best jump of 18-09.75, while Ty'Jalayah Robertson set a personal best in the high jump with a jump of 5-04.50.

In the hammer throw, Alexandria Kemp set a new best with a throw of 160-11 while Steven Parsons tossed a best 158-09 on the men's side.

Next week the Titans will prepare for the Cal/Nevada Championships in La Jolla, Calif.
