Whitaker Represents Titans on Final Day of NCAA Regionals

AUSTIN, Texas—Walter Whitaker competed in the men's triple jump prelims on the final day of the 2013 NCAA West Regional Championships, Saturday night at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

 

Whitaker finished 42nd with a leap of 46-00.75 in the triple jump, as he represented the last Titan remaining in the NCAA postseason field. Whitaker failed to qualify for the NCAA Track and Field Championships on June 5-7 in Eugene, Oregon. It puts an end to what was a fantastic season for Whitaker.

 

On the weekend, Deena Pierce also finished 42nd in the 400-meter hurdle prelims (1:01.99), Javon May placed 30th in the 400-meter hurdle prelims (52.66), Bryan Luther finished 35th in the men's 200-meter prelims (21.61), Ashley Sims placed 42nd in the women's 200-meter prelims (24.67), while Katie Wilson (55.45) and Morgan Thompson (59.75) each finished 40th and 47th respectively in the women's 400-meter prelims.

 

The Titans sent a school-record seven athletes to the NCAA West Regional Championships this weekend.
