FULLERTON, Calif--- The Cal State Fullerton track and field team heads to San Diego this weekend to compete in the 35th annual Aztec Track and Field Invitational this Friday and Saturday.

 

Fullerton will send 33 athletes to compete in 18 different events as it tries to continue its strong start to the 2013 season.

 

Things will get going with the women's hammer throw on Friday and will conclude Saturday evening with the men's Javelin throw.

 

Titan standouts Katie Wilson and Ashley Sims will get back on the track this weekend after sitting out of the Ben Brown Invitational. Wilson will compete in the 400-meter run, the 4x100- meter run, and the 4x400- meter run, while Sims will take part in the 100-meter, 200- meter, and will join Wilson in the 4x100 and 4x400 relay.

Deena Pierce also looks to take the success she had during the indoor season, with her four second place finishes, and translate it to the outdoor season, as she'll take part in the 100-meter hurdles, 400- meter hurdles, as well as the 4x400 meter relay. 

For the men, Javon May aims to improve on a 54.44 400-meter hurdle time from last weekend, as he will run the 400-meter hurdle, while also compete in the 4x100 and 4x400 relay race.

 

Walter Whitaker, Shawn McNany, and Kara Kalmar highlight the field athletes this weekend as they'll take place in the triple jump and pole vaults respectively.
