Marlow joins the Titans after spending the last two years as an assistant coach for the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos, specializing in the throws and high jump. In his first year as the throws coach, Marlow has cultivated an early culture of success in his group with 11 athletes (8 men, 3 women) taking over 15 scoring positions at the Big West Conference Track and Field Championships. In that group he was able to find his first Big West Conference Champion in that of Chris Ross who was able to take the javelin in a clutch last round attempt to throw past 200 feet for the first time that season (61.92m/203' 2"). Additionally, Marlow was able to produce two NCAA West Regional Qualifiers along with a school record in the discus from Kordell Hampton, breaking his own record from last year with a mark of 57.06m (187' 2").

Marlow comes in fresh off a successful student-athlete career at Long Beach State, serving as one of their premier throwers and team captain for the last two years. The former 49er was a four time Big West Conference scorer in the hammer throw, with a career-high podium finish in 2016 at 3rd place. In that same year, he would go on to place 10th at the NCAA West Regional Meet, qualifying for the NCAA Finals in Eugene, Oregon. Marlow would ultimately take 24th at the NCAA Championships, garnering All-American honorable mentions. He is currently number three on the LBSU all-time lists for both the hammer throw and the indoor weight throw with marks of 219' 7" and 66' 6" respectively.

Robert's academic credentials include graduating cum laude with two bachelor's degrees from Long Beach State in political science and philosophy. He earned his masters in political science and a minor in global politics from Long Beach State as well. He also served as student-athlete tutor at the Bickerstaff Academic Center from 2015-2017 and was awarded the Big West Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2016.
