Wood Wins Long Jump on Day One of MPSF Championships

SPOKANE, Wash.Christian Wood won the men's long jump to highlight a successful day one for Cal State Fullerton indoor track & field at the MPSF Championships. 

Wood set a mark of 7.33m on his fifth attempt in the men's long jump to win the event. Camren Willis joined him on the podium with a mark of 7.05m while William Dower finished fifth with a 6.99m. 

Wood and Willis were two of six podium finishers for the Titans on Friday. Alonzo Floriolli finished second in the men's 200m with a time of 21.27, while Justin Lowe took home the bronze in the event with a time of 21.29. Floriolli also finished first in the men's 60m prelims with a time of 6.68. 

In the men's pole vault, Daniel Palacio and Sam Heinrichs finished second and third, respectively. Both Palacio and Heinrichs recorded clearance marks of 5.05m. Joshua Tan just missed the podium in the men's weight throw, recording a mark of 16.28m to finish fourth. Hawkin Miller finished seventh in the event with a personal-best mark of 13.63m. 

Matthew Uballe finished first in the men's 60m hurdles prelims, clocking a time of 7.99, a personal-best. Abel Jordan finished third with a personal-best time of 8.02 while Matt Cohen also qualified with a time of 8.33. 

On the women's side, Amira Hawkins finished sixth in the 60m hurdles prelims with a time of 8.82. Trinity Barnett (3rd, 7.47, PR), Rayann Booker (5th, 7.56, PR) and Jayde Charlton (8th, 7.66) each qualified for the finals in the women's 60m prelims.

Andrew Aguilar won the men's heptathlon long jump (6.91m, PR) and finished second in the 60m dash (7.18, PR) and shot put (13.06m, PR). He finished day one in second place of the men's heptathlon with 2909 points, 261 behind first place with three events to go on day two. 

Fullerton returns to action tomorrow, Saturday, February 18th, for the second and final day of the MPSF Indoor Championships.
