Men Take Third at MPSF Championships

SPOKANE, WASH. – Titans bring home two more individual conference championships as the men's team take third in their inaugural season at the 2022 MPSF Indoor Track & Field Championships. Adding to the men's team accomplishments, two new school records were bested as Senior Charles Kelly ran a new season best, personal best, and school record in the men's 60-meter hurdles after running 8.02; becoming the second MPSF Conference Champion for Cal State Fullerton after Christian Wood won the men's long jump on day one of competition.(Be sure to catch the Sportcast recap story on Christian Wood on ABC30-KFSN-TV at 11:00PM PST)

Two more Titans scored in the men's 60-meter hurdles final as well with Sophomore Reyte Rash running a new personal best time of 8.21 to finish third overall and Matt Cohen running 8.44 to finish sixth overall.

Freshman Shallamar Poole won the men's high jump after clearing 2.11m (6'11") to become the third Titan to win an individual conference championship and breaking the indoor school record previously held by Edwin Matthews by 0.25 inches. Freshman Camren Willis earned himself a third-place finish for the Titans in the men's high jump adding six points to the men's team score. Christian Wood was back on the runway for the men's triple jump and earned himself a second-place finish after a leap of 14.18m (46'6.25").

Adam Leiva set a new personal record twice in the men's shot put, his best mark of 15.37m (50'5.25") came from his final attempt in the men's finals where he placed sixth overall. Teammate Joshua Tan would finish seventh overall after throwing a new personal best of 14.51m (47'3.25") in the men's shot put.

In the men's 60-meter dash finals, Rasaun House ran 6.89 to finish in second-place after being edged out by Dallin Draper of BYU at the line. William Dower and Naythn Scruggs would finish fifth and seventh to add a total of six more points for the Titans.

Sammy Ayala runs 4:14.36 in the men's one-mile to finish sixth overall and 8:40.60 in the men's 3000-meter to earn an eighth-place finish. Justin Lowe snagged a fourth-place finish in the men's 400-meter dash with a time of 48.52 while Parris Samaniego adds two points of his own with a seventh-place finish.

On the women's side, all four women in the 400-meter group set new personal records with Maya Occiano leading the way with a time of 56.61 (5th Place), Lauren Delgadillo 56.75 (6th Place), Alero Soaris (7th Place), and Kirstin Light 58.31 (13th Place).

In the women's 60-meter dash, Amir'a Edmond ran 7.85 and Rayann Booker ran 7.88 to finish fifth and seventh to add a total of six more points to the women's team score. London Lee finishes in fourth-place after a leap of 11.19m (36'8.50") in the women's triple jump finals. Trinity Ruelas ran 9:43.85 in the women's 3000-meter run to place fourth overall.

Amira Hawkins ran 8.92 in the women's 60-meter hurdles to finish fifth place overall and add gour points to the women's team score. Kyleigh Wilkerson threw a new season best in the women's shot put after a toss of 13.17m (43'2.50") to earn a seventh-place overall finish.
