SPOKANE, WASH. – Christian Wood jumped his way into the history books as he became the first MPSF individual indoor track & field conference champion, man or woman, for Cal State Fullerton. Wood finished first in the men's long jump after posting a season's best mark of 7.24m (23'9.0"). The Titans would go on to have three more men score in the top eight in the men's long jump, as William Dower (6.76m) finished third, Camren Willis (6.59m) finished sixth, and Andrew Aguilar (6.40m) finished eighth.

Andrew Aguilar won his first two events in the men's heptathlon after running 7.19 in the 60m Dash (+816) and jumping 6.55m in the Long Jump (+709). Aguilar remains in the lead after three events with a score of 2104 heading into tomorrow's remaining events of the heptathlon competition.

Reyte Rash ran a new personal best in the men's 60mH to win his heat and automatically qualify for the finals. Joining him in tomorrow's finals will be Charles Kelly and Matt Cohen. In the men's 60m Dash, Rasaun House, William Dower, and Naythn Scruggs all qualified for tomorrow's final. In the men's pole vault, Daniel Palacio and Samuel Heinrichs tie for third place after clearing 4.87m.

In the men's 200m, Chris Shiley ran a new indoor personal best to finish fifth overall with a time of 21.84.

"I think the team went out there and battled well, definitely figuring things out in the championship setting. Some highlights today, Christian jumping pretty far in the long jump, a new indoor PR for him and new school record (pending verification). Reyte coming out and preforming well in the men's 60m hurdles winning his heat and becoming the number one overall qualifier. The jumps crew coming out and competing well as everyone placed in the top eight and three scoring points for us there. Indoor is a different beast, and we are learning as we go, and I think the athletes are learning as they go as well…Everyone is competing well for the first time at this level"

Head Coach Marques Barosso

On the women's side, McKaylie Caesar ran a new indoor school record time of 17:23.37 in the women's 5,000m. Evalen Garcia threw a new personal best in the women's weight throw after a toss of 15.61m (51'2.75") to finish seventh overall and becoming the highest placing Titan for the event. Freshman Amira Hawkins ran 8.85 in the women's 60mH to qualify for the finals, which are set to take place tomorrow at 10:00AM PST.

Amir'a Edmond (7.79) and Rayann Booker (7.81) both qualified for the women's 60m Dash final after impressive performances. Edmond would also run a new season best time in the women's 200m while teammate Lauren Delgadillo ran a new personal best of 25.17 in the women's 200m to finish ninth overall. The Titans wrapped up day one of competition with a sixth placed finish in the women's DMR.

After six scored events, the Cal State Fullerton Men are in third place with 41 points behind Big West rival Long Beach St. (49) and defending MPSF indoor champions BYU (91). Through eight scored events on the women's side, the Titans are currently in the eighth.
