ALBUQUERQUE, NM. – Multiple Titans win their sections on day one of competition at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational. SO Reyte Rash ran a new season best time of 48.15 in the men's 400m dash to win his section. Chris Shiley ran a new season best as well in the men's 400m dash after winning his section in a time of 48.59. Shiley would also run a new season best in the 200m dash to win his section.
"The team competed well today! This is a high-level meet and a good preview before MPSF conference championships. We are starting to figure out our indoor races and marks. Big performances from our Pole vault & 400m groups. This is an elite meet, and we are competing well. Looking forward to tomorrow's competitions" - Head Coach Marques Barosso
It was Alonzo Floriolli who led the way for the Titans in the men's 200m dash on Friday afternoon, as Floriolli opened up his 2022 indoor season with a section winning time of 21.85 which placed him 13th overall in the timed final event. That time becomes the second fastest ran by a Titan this season, and places him in the number four slot on the MPSF Top Performance list, behind Easton Bianchi of BYU.
In the women's 200m dash, FR Kirstin Light led the way for the Titans after running 25.16 and moving into the Top 5 performance list in the MPSF Conference. "Kirstin gets better after each race. It will all come together for her at conference", said Head Coach Marques Barosso. Lauren Delgadillo would go on to win her section in the women's 200m as well, with a time of 25.23. Alero Soaris runs new indoor personal best in the women's 400m after winning her section in a time of 57.56.
The Titans will be back in action tomorrow as the Don Kirby Elite Invitational continues with the field events begining at 7:30AM PST and running events 8:45AM PST.
