Huerta Narrowly Misses School Record in Mile

FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton women's indoor track and field team closed the books on the UW and Colorado Invitationals on Saturday. Senior Samantha Huerta made her season debut and missed breaking her own school record in the mile by less than half a second.

At the UW Invitational, Huerta just missed breaking her own school record in the mile. She clocked a time of 4:47.94 in 16th place while her record is 4:47.50. Junior Alyssa Block clocked a time of 10:10.56 in the 3K. Senior Kiana Clay posted a 400-meter time of 58.88 in her season debut.

At the Colorado Invitational, freshman Amir'a Edmond clocked a personal-best time of 7.73 in the 60-meter preliminary round, good for fourth place and a spot in the final. She took fourth place once again with a time of 7.87. Sophomore Ku'ulei Moku took fifth place in the final with a time of 7.91 (PR of 7.87 prelim). Sophomore Hailey Murdica took sixth in the final, also posting a time of 7.91 while she ran 7.78 in the prelim. Junior Lauren Delgadillo's time of 7.99 (PR of 7.87 prelim) was good for seventh place in the final.

Murdica led the Titans in the 200 meters with a time of 25.72 in the final to take fifth place. Delgadillo's 200-meter time of 25.78 was a personal best and good for sixth place. Moku's 60-meter hurdles time of 8.93 was a personal best and placed her sixth overall. Karyn Best was right behind her in seventh place with a time of 8.94.

Senior Mia Franco took sixth place in the 400 meters with a time of 58.07. Freshman Maya Occiano's personal-best time of 58.33 was good for seventh place while freshman Deja Allain took eighth place with a time of 58.96. The quartet of Franco, Occiano, Moku and Allain took third place of four in the women's 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:00.78.

Freshman Kyleigh Wilkerson had a personal-best toss of 39-11.25 (12.17m) in the shot put to take eight place overall. Sophomore Bertha Sola (37-6, 11.43m) and Teresa Chang (36-4.25, 11.08m) competed in the eivent as well.

Sola was the top Titan in the weight throw at 51-0.75 (15.56m), good for sixth place. Sopomore Sinai Fatafehi finished in 11th place with a mark of 48-11 (14.91m).
