FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton women's indoor track and field team opened up the 2020 indoor season with the Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational on Friday at the Albuquerque Convention Center, hosted by the University of New Mexico. The Titans are competing against the nation's best at this meet, including the likes of perennial powerhouses in USC, LSU and Texas, to name a few. Day two begins on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. PT.
Sophomore Bertha Sola took seventh place in the weight throw with a personal-best toss of 55-2 (16.81m). Sinai Fatafehi's toss of 50-4 (15.34m) was good for 14th place. Kyleigh Wilkerson (49-11.25, 15.22m), Teresa Chang (43-9, 13.33m) and Evalen Garcia (37-11.5, 11.57m) also competed in the event.
Freshman Amir'a Edmond was the top finisher for CSF in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.34. She took 32nd place overall, just ahead of fellow Titans Mia Franco (25.56, 37th place) and Hailey Murdica (25.57, 38th place). Franco's time of 25.56 was a personal best and she also clocked a PR in the 400 meters, taking fifth place overall (unseeded) with a time of 56.98. Deja Allain ran the 400 meters in 58.72 while Ku'ulei Moku (59.33) and Karyn Best (60.39) ran as well.
Jelani Minix (5-1, 1.55m; 13th place) competed in the high jump while Ryann Mojica posted a pesonal-best mark of 17-3.5 (5.27m, 21st place). Lauren Delgadillo (15-10.25, 4.83m) and Sela Pastrana (15-7, 4.75m) also long jumped.
